Academy of Dover Charter School and the parents/guardians of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act agree that this contract outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents/guardians will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

Parent/Family Commitment: I understand that in order for my child to get the best possible education from school, he/she must adhere to school expectations. I will make every effort to:

  • Have my child abide by the School Code of Conduct
  • Help my child understand and follow School Expectations
  • Have my child attend school regularly and on time
  • Provide written documentation/excuses for all absences
  • Establish a regular time and place for homework that is checked
  • Support the school staff and respect the diverse cultures of the school
  • Have ongoing communication with my child’s teacher
  • Limit and monitor my child’s TV, movie, Social Media, and Internet viewing
  • Encourage daily reading at home

*Parents and guardians are expected to treat all staff of the Academy as professionals and to refrain from aggressive, hostile, or vulgar language or behaviors. These behaviors will not be tolerated and may result in termination of the choice contract at the end of the current school year.

Student Committment: It is important that I do the best I can. Therefore, I will do the following:

  • Come to school each day on time
  • Have my classwork and homework completed and turned in on time
  • Have the supplies needed

  • Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in his or her child’s class as scheduled with the child’s teacher

All of our students are offered a free breakfast and lunch daily.  Students are permitted to bring a lunch from home.  We request that food not be delivered by a 3rd party to our students.

We offer bus hub stops to our families and also have many car riders.  The Academy doors open for students at 7:45.  Our academic day begins at 8am.  We ask that all students are in the Academy no later than 8am so no learning time is missed.

Our dismissal begins at 3pm for our bus riders and at 3:05 for our car riders.

The car riders enter and exit at the side door (nearest to the front of the building).  We have many staff members ready to assist both with entering and exiting.  Please remain with your vehicle while in the car rider drop off or pickup line.  When your vehicle is at the door, a staff member will ensure your child is safely escorted to and from the car and Academy side door.

Students who ride buses will be brought to and from their bus hub stop and the Academy on as consistent a schedule as traffic and road conditions allow.  Please ensure you leave a 15 minute window of time both before and after the stated time for the bus to arrive at the hub stop.  **Students who are in Kindergarten are REQUIRED to have a parent/guardian at least 18 years old present and at the bus hub stop to receive him/her.  Students who are in first grade and up do not have this requirement.  Please ensure the vehicle is at the hub stop in time to get the children.

We provide a device (chromebook) to each of our students to use while enrolled in our Academy.  We have a monitoring system in place so we can better ensure our students remain "safe" while using our devices.

Class DoJo is our primary form of communication.  This app allows us to send and receive both group and individual messages with our families.  All of our educators and administrators are available for contact using this app.  You will receive messages sent Academy-wide, class or grade-wide, and individually.  If you have not already connected with us, please do so right away.
